It is magnanimous when we say we truly understand someone/thing. We perceive it and enjoy the state of awareness and the new knowledge. Focus of the universe is directed towards the result and not the factors – factors by which the wisdom is acquired. While all the brownie points go to the recipient, someone who had a bandwidth to grasp, adopt and assimilate in a desired manner, we never mention the one who made us understand it (the factor). While we always appreciate the report card, we forget to take a look at its writer. This writer can be anyone, not necessarily one with a degree. One who explains it in the best comprehensible manner. One who knows that the best way to make someone understand a thing, and that…….one needs to start from the very basic: Simple.
An attempt to define simplicity, what is it then? The best solution to anything, the first tick in mind, the best way through in all spheres of life, something ordinary but enjoyable . For a simple reason it is not trapped in the clutches of ostentation, display and vanity. When you follow this track of life there are no worries, no complications as “How will it be perceived? Will I be accepted? Am I in accordance to the standards? Where do I stand in the ratings?”
Simple in an ever evolving world is no more “the it’. It is drowning and screaming for a helping hand but we have our earphones on or did we notice it’s waving hand and pretended not to see. In a cloud of social platforms at peak, how we surpass the importance of basic things like person physically talking to us. It’s an interchange of places, man with devices. How it doesn’t even occur to us what this world be like if there are no human voices only gadgets buzzing.. even technology is advancing towards becoming human.. artificial intelligence.
This competitive world comes with its inherent complexities. One complexity is the greed of wanting more. We are out there too engrossed in whitening our blemishes, that we throw a blanket of ignorance on the bigger picture; which at times gives us a peek-a-boo but for us it’s too elementary. Such is the nature of this maddening race, that in the hunt for pride and superiority we often tend to overlook the beauty in simplicity. Such as a person simply dressed at an event is termed under-dressed for the occasion. A meal at someone’s place with countable dishes is too basic. A person who talks less and only when required is considered an introvert.
If we convert all the our traits into layers, simplicity would be the last one. Ironically, last from top and first from bottom: the foundation. In a haste to deliver the best, we forget the cause. Remember when our teachers used to say “Read your questions carefully before attempting…” Too much anxiety/impatience to outdo others that we press the buzzer even before the question is asked. With so many taglines “Beat the best/nothing but the best” Simplicity seems like salad, something you can do without, How about treating this as water. Can we do without it?
Personification for me seems to be just a term I studied in school, never felt it for real. If I am to ask for one movie character I would like to be or for that matter would love to be a part of, I would quote, ‘Kangana’ from ‘Queen’. Just because of the puddle of plainness she is. A girl untouched by anything that makes a person refined/better – I believe the word is ‘raw/ innocent’. She is as is; a girl who knows that she has wings but would definitely like to seek an approved nod from parents, just because they love her. (As against the extreme drive of liberation that is at display around us today) No matter how independent I become I like to include my parents not as an obligation but because I love to, it gives me a sense of inner peace. A girl who will empathize with every soul and is ready to give her word of advice (the scene where she is tipsy and says”Vijaylaxmi, tum sudhar jao”.) just because she cares. A girl who still has that teenage butterflies alive and fluttering at the mere mention of a kiss, a girl who is always a sport, a girl who swears because she believes in it, the way we did in our childhood. A girl who still screams “Mummy, Mummy” every time she is scared, a girl who did not let the child cease in the name of growing up. Holding the crown of old fashioned ideology with innocence, she churns and grinds the modernism in you. Intermittently this very old school thinking can aid one to distinguish between right and wrong.
A girl who is far behind in the world of practicality and modernity so much that she seems such an alluring sight for eyes and what happen to be as a compliment (in the scene where Lisa and Kangana part ways) is the most genuine/bravo piece of advice “Don’t change”.
Nothing can replace the taste of water or the importance of it. No beverages, added ingredients or flavours 🙂
I was in a reverie until it struck me while watching the same movie with this woman at workplace, that it has just ended and I am a part of a real Queen’s life (all the traits as mentioned above).
This post is all about her and all the things I mentioned. Walking pouring beautiful simplicity.
She had never given a shot to skirts and was very keen to have a few. At the time of making the purchase we had no intention of making it twins, just normal shopping spree for her.
The cartoon print speaks for all the fun vibes that a garment can speak. We got it tailored from my hometown and the guy did a fabulous job with all the little pleats running through
The top at first glance may seem an easy pick but it was NOT. It took us numerous trial sessions at home/stores.
We tried our best to have this shoot a mirror image as close as possible. Hence the bag, accessories and the colors.
Special mention to the locale : Lodhi garden
The graffiti on walls is an outcome of the St+Art Foundation a non-profit organisation that works on art spaces in public spaces.
An exemplary display of street art, acting as a booster for younger generation to just throw out their thoughts on the canvas of these walls, no one is stopping. Each wall has unique art, ranging from monotones to multicolored graphic, mythological to quirky. It’s a must visit for any art devotee, classical/modern/contemporary.
A fresh take on the artists’ bent of mind through the Graffiti. No matter how many times you cross the same lane, you pull down the windows of car.
This photoshoot was a farewell gift to her, would say more of accolade to her innocence, throughout the shoot she was so thrilled as she never experienced anything like this before.
Behind the lens : Mate( first ever mention as it was a very hot humid day and it took oodles of patience)
The goodbye word : That old pair of jeans in your closet lying hidden and you seem to have a connection to it and hence you never ever want to throw it, THAT IS simplicity
Top & accesories : Anita Dogre
Skirt : Us
Bag : Lavie
